Now there's an alternative to synthetic dry-strength aides. With the invention of Penford's Topcat® L product line, you'll get a product designed to increase strength, retention and drainage. Traditional wet-end starches don't have enough charge density to be retained in a paperboard furnish. But Topcat® L additives have an ultra-high cationic charge to bind with fiber to increase strength. There's also enough charge to promote retention of colloidal material, so it cleans up your system and reduces BOD.
